The Acqius Story

Acqius evolved from experience. The founders, Rob Whorrod and Clive Stanley, are experienced in acquiring, building and selling businesses; they used M&A advisors on several occasions previous to the creation of Acquis, having concluded that M&A could be done better - in many ways.

After selling their specialist engineering company to an American corporate, they focussed on product development for some of the world's major providers of equipment to the global energy and hazardous area (ATEX, IECEx) markets.

Given their success in selling businesses of their own, industry contacts made enquiries, asking about exit strategy, terms, expectation, SPA content and valuations of their own businesses. Acqius was born from those conversations, running alongside the engineering interests that the owners retain.

In 2023, Anna van der Hulst joined the team, bringing a wealth of experience in health care and beauty and a background in marketing and customer relationship management; she works from the European office near Amsterdam.

A network of transactional specialists has evolved as colleagues to assist the core team to provide additional services for the legal, accountancy and financing aspects that clients require.


Expertise from Experience:

The founders have both accountancy and engineering backgrounds, a rarity in the world of M&A. From their own experience, they sought to find additional value in their own businesses to drive the value up. 

The level of technical knowledge and abilities that they have proved valuable to clients with technology, manufacturing and industrial based businesses. Being qualified in both the financial and technical disciplines allows Acqius to see strategic alignments between potentially transacting parties that would not be obvious to advisors who have no technical background.

Add to this the founders' network of global contacts, Acqius operate internationally with strong connections in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the USA and Canada.

Keeping it Simple:

Transactions can be simplified into steps; each step should be meticulously prepared and completed in order to maximise efficiency of a transaction. Requested information should be available and immediate. The synergies between seller and potential buyer should be evaluated immediately to avoid time wasters and incompatibility.

Every step is supported by Acqius, from initial feasibility through to the final Share / Sale Purchase Agreement, with the sole objective of maximising return for our clients.

Personal Service:

Every client is different, every transaction is different. Every business has a history, every owner has an individual story. Understanding each client is key to success. Discussion and communication create the detail for the Confidential Information Memorandum (CIM) that is the core document for the sale of the business. 

This has to show the business in it's best light, detailing history, capability, prowess, markets, financial parameters and of course the expectations of the future. The creation of this document delves into the intricacies of every client's business.

The role of the advisor then becomes to match real, prospective interested parties to the seller's business. The art is to filter this to those who have the desire and the means to transact.

AI and Automation:

We make use of AI technology that allows the streamlining of arduous and complex processes, enhancing speed and accuracy across our services. Key applications include:
